(LSJ) Helping elderly people for 7 weeks
Mon, August 10, 2009 at 1:36 PM (LSJ) This summer was special to me. I was a driver of minivan serving elderly people in Munkkivuori, Haaga, Kaskisaari, and some other districts of Helsinki. To me, being old has been something rather far away of a thingy, and since my parents are not yet that old timers yet, especially the lifestyle of elderly people were not that familiar.
To my suprise, the best of the people at their eighties and nineties were in good shape, warm, and always full of fun and ‘tweeting’ jokes. I really enjoyed many trips with them!
The services Community Centers, like Riistakallio, Kannelkoti, Haagan Palvelutalo, kept elderly people in a community that lived their own world peacefully. Weekly, a Bus made as Mobile Shopping Mall visited and served those who could not climb to my minibus and head to the local Mall. I drove 50 to 100 grandmothers and grandfathers to shop and back daily.
I think this is my Ultimate Mobile Office experience so far.
How was your Summer?
